Spotlight on the Princess

ca mugshotbw

I’ve often written about the opportunities to get involved with Valley Theater Company productions at the Princess Theatre. Did you know that dozens of local boys and girls have accepted that invitation this season?

All of VTC’s four plays in its current season include youths on stage or behind the scenes! These experiences give each of these young people opportunities to learn new skills, meet new people, gain confidence, add to their eventual college/scholarship applications and have a lot of fun in the process.

This season, VTC has already presented “Much Ado about Nothing,” with an all high-school cast and high school students involved in all production aspects, and “A Christmas Carol” with children ages 5 to 17 on stage and several high school students assisting off stage.

“The Hallelujah Girls,” currently in rehearsal for five February performances, has returning high schoolers in key off-stage production roles. And, the final show of the season, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” which was cast last week for spring performances, includes a children’s chorus and will likely include older students in off-stage roles as well.

VTC has long involved and supported children – they are, after all, the future of community theatre! For decades, VTC has presented a scholarship to a high school or college student who plans to pursue a performing arts degree.

As you consider the many worthwhile organizations that are seeking financial donations, I hope that you will include Valley Theater. We are very close to our goal of raising enough money to purchase the Princess Theatre to preserve this community treasure for current and future generations. Your donation will be an investment in the future – for our children and our community.

Please feel welcome to call me at 786-2003 if you have any questions. We welcome donations to VTC Capital Campaign, 1228 Meade Avenue, Prosser WA 99350. Thank you!
