The Princess Bride ~ 30th Anniversary Celebration

Mawage. Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday.”

The Princess Theatre is pleased to announce the 30th Anniversary Celebration of “The Princess Bride” on Saturday, September 30th.  This Oscar-nominated family-friendly classic and highly quotable film has been delighting fans of all ages since it first premiered in September 1987.

“He didn’t fall? Inconceivable!”

“You keep saying that word.  I do not think it means what you think it means.”

The beloved classic fairytale begins with a grandfather reading his favorite book, The Princess Bride, to his hard-to-impress grandson. This book, he promises, has everything – “Fencing. Fighting. Torture. Revenge. Giants. Monsters. Chases. Escapes. True love. Miracles.” – and all that he promised comes to life before the boy’s enchanted eyes as his grandfather reads him the adventures of Buttercup, the most beautiful woman in the world, and Westley, the man she loves.

“We’ll never survive.”

“Nonsense.  You’re only saying that because no one ever has.”

Rated PG, the movie runs 1 hr, 38 min. Directed by Rob Reiner, “The Princess Bride” features an all-star cast including Robin Wright, Cary Elwes, Chris Sarandon, Mandy Patinkin, Andre the Giant, Billy Crystal, Carol Kane, Peter Falk and Fred Savage.

“Hello.  My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father.  Prepare to die.”

Attendees are encouraged to come in Medieval and Renaissance attire for the Costume Contest.  Hearty peasant fare from the Ciao Wagon is included with each ticket during the pre-show social starting at 6 pm in the Green Room at the Princess .  The pre-show social will also include Florin’s Medieval Market, a No-Host Bar, Battle of Wits, Feats of Strength, Costume Contest, Door Prizes, and more before the movie begins at 8 pm.  Special thanks to Adventures Underground in Richland, prize donor for the Battle of Wits and Costume Contest.

“Have fun storming the castle!”

Tickets cost $20 a person and are available as of 1 September 2017 at Adventures Underground in Richland, Bonnie’s Vine & Gift in Prosser, Sixth Street Art Gallery in Prosser and online at https://squareup.com/store/princess-theatre.
