After Black Friday and Cyber Monday is #GivingTuesday. May we suggest a wonderful gift-giving idea for someone who “has everything,” someone you want to honor, remember or just surprise? It’s also a lovely way to give back to our community and it’s tax deductible! It is a donation to Valley Theater Company, the not-for profit 501(c)(3) organization that owns and operates the historic Princess Theatre.

VTC relies on donations, building rentals, sponsorships, program advertisers and audiences for funds to present a season of live theatre and to maintain this wonderful old building as a community arts, culture and events center.

Historic buildings have historic price tags. In 2014, the Princess Theatre needed to replace a sewer pipe for ~ $20,000. 2015, a new roof for the Green Room cost a little over $20,000. 2016, we were able to make some facade improvements for a bit over $16,000 thanks to a grant from the The Kinsman Foundation, but then also had ice and water damage totalling, you guessed it, ~$20,000. Help us continue moving forward by supporting our maintenance and operations.

Remember – we need YOUR help to continue making those projects happen. How can you help?

Donate: Valley Theater Company, the 501(c)(3) non-profit community theater troupe that owns and operates the Princess, welcomes donations to help us tackle these and other projects. Donations may be made online at https://squareup.com/store/princess-theatre or mailed to Princess Theatre, 1228 Meade Avenue, Prosser WA 99350.

Advocate: The Washington State Historical Society (WSHS) included Valley Theater Company’s plans for the Princess Theatre’s capital improvements as one of 35 projects on the Heritage Capital Projects 2017-2019 Prioritized Projects List. This list is used by the Washington State Legislature as they determine the 2017-2019 state capital budget. Typically approved in summer, WA has not yet passed the capital operating budget! Please contact your state legislators and let them know how important VTC and the Princess are to you as a patron, and encourage their support of the Heritage Capital Projects funding as part of the state capital budget. Visit http://app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/ to find your legislators and contact them today! Patrons can also pick up informational flyers at the Princess Theatre to share with fellow constituents, published and provided by the Washington State Historical Society.
